Product Description
EXTERIOR
The exterior of this trailer is very original and intact with only minor bumps and bruises. It is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A- frame. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas assessable for inspection. There is a small section of the frame behind the passenger side wheels that is bent from someone not jacking it up correctly.
Dents, damage and scratches. The bottom wraps on the driver side are oxidized with severe pitting. There are small dents and dings, most of which are up high and barely visible. Over all the exterior skin is in pretty nice shape.
Entry door front . Has the original front door with riveted aluminum construction. Has the cool porthole style window. Exterior skin of door is in good shape with only minor flaws. Has original lockbox on the interior but the original exterior handle has been replaced with a T handle lock. Door will need new seals. Door jamb is bent up from someone trying to break in, no keys.
Entry door rear. Has the original riveted aluminum entry door with the port hole window. Exterior skin of door is pretty beat up from someone trying to break in. Door is missing locks inside and out. Door will need new seals.
Screen door front. Has the original wood screen door, which is in fair condition. Screen door rear. Missing.
Front step. Is missing but still has the brackets there. We do offer the steps on our parts e- store.
Rear step. Has step and brackets but step is bent and will need some work.
Front Hoist. No.
Hitch coupler. Has the original hitch coupler, which is rusty, but in working condition.
Roof and vents. Roof & vents have no apparent damage. There are a couple of strips of tar on the roof, where awnings were probably attached at one time. Has all of the original aluminum vents with the exception of the furnace vent. There has been a patch put over where the furnace vent came was.
Exterior lights. Has all of the original KD 540 marker lights with glass lenses and stainless steel bezels. All glass lenses appear to be in good condition. Has the original KD 520 tail lights with glass lenses and steel bezels. Glass lenses appear to be in good shape and chrome bezels are not rusty but do you show some wear. Original license plate light and bracket is missing. Original lights are untested. Trailer will need temporary tow lights in the rear to tow home.
Underbelly. Original underbelly is still intact in front of axles, but behind axles it has been removed.
Windows. Has the original sliding windows which are complete with screens and
window garnishes but three of the windows are missing the handle to slide the window open and closed. Has the original front plexiglass windows. There are no cracks, but they are cloudy and showing wear. Has the original Marvel window in the rear which is steel. It does have surface rust but is still in good shape. The window bracket is broke and will need replaced. Has the crank up windows in the rear bedroom which both are in working condition but one of the cranks is missing a knob. All windows will need new seals. There is no broken, cracked or missing glass.
INTERIOR
Interior of this trailer is mostly original and in fair shape. There are several areas with water damage, which are evident from the photos. The interior is very dirty and currently doesn’t smell that great.
Cabinet and closet doors. Has the original birch cabinet doors and drawers, most are in pretty good shape. A couple of drawers will need work.
Catches. Original.
Countertops. Countertops and backsplash are in poor condition.
Floor. Floor is solid in 90% of the trailer. There is a soft spot in the floor between the bed and the bathroom.
Floor covering. Has the original linoleum which is in poor condition.
Table. No. Most Royal Mansions had a booth across from the kitchen cabinets, but this one has what appears to be a factory cabinet there instead. I do have some original dinette cushions if you want to build a new dinette like the original one was.
Unit sleeps. Currently there is only one bed base in the rear bedroom, but there would be room for 4 to 6 person to sleep
Walls. Has the original birch paneling on walls and ceiling. I would say 75 to 80% of it is in restorable condition but some panels will need to be replaced.
RUNNING GEAR
Has the original running gear with the exception of new tires and wheels. Wheel bearings were inspected and repacked on both axles.
Axle and springs. Has the original axle with leaf spring suspension. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid.
Hitch ball height. Approximately 18 inches.
Safety chains. No.
Hitch weight. Approximately 625#
Hitch ball size. 2 inch.
Hubcaps. No.
Spare tire. No.
Tire condition. All four tires are brand new. Has ST 205-75R 15 special trailer radial tires with eight ply rating. Tires are mounted on new silver mod wheels with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.
FURNISHINGS
Rear bedroom has original bed base, but no other beds, mattresses, couches, curtains, or cushions.
ELECTRICAL
Electrical system has what appears to be the original electrical system with four automatic reset circuit breakers. There is no supply cord, but we temporarily wired one in and most of the lights and outlets are in working condition. Entire electrical system should be checked by a certified expert before use.
110 V lights. Yes. Has about half of the original light fixtures. Other ones have been replaced.
12 V lights. Yes, Has one 12 V light in the kitchen, which is untested.
Brakes. Has brakes on both axles, but brake shoes are in trailer loose. Brakes are untested.
Breakaway switch. No.
Converter. No.
Plug for exterior lights. No.
Porch light. Yes, not original but is in working condition.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Most of the original LP system is missing but most of these items should be replaced anyway for safety reasons. Entire LP system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.
Furnace. Yes. Has a non-original Intertherm brand furnace. Furnace is untested.
Gas bottles. No.
Gaslight. No.
Gas regulator. No.
Range oven. Yes, has a vintage AB brand stove, which is complete with one oven rack, all knobs and grates. All burners on stove did light.
Refrigerator. Has the original Frigidaire brand refrigerator. We plugged the refrigerator in and it does cool.
Water heater. Yes, has a non-original Phillips brand electric water heater which is 20 gallons. Water heater is untested.
PLUMBING
Has some of the original copper freshwater lines and some have been replaced with polybutylene. Drains are ABS. Plumbing system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.
Freshwater tank. No.
Kitchen sink. Yes, Has an old cast-iron sink, which is poor condition.
Lavatory. Yes, has the original aluminum laboratory, but it has been painted.
Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. Yes. Has the original aluminum wet bath shower. Shower walls are in good condition except at the very bottom where there is oxidation with holes.
Toilet. No.
Tub. No.
Waste holding tank. No.
Water intake valve. No.
Water pump. No.
SPECIAL
This trailer will need a full restoration but with the good exterior and mostly complete interior it is a good candidate for restoration.
