EXTERIOR
The exterior of this Spartan is very original and intact. It does have some minor flaws but nothing real major., see photos. It is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A-frame. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid. Dents, scratches and damage. This trailer does have several small dents in dings but nothing real major. The worst damage is on the right rear corner down low. There is some hail damage on the rear of the trailer and on the front up high. I do not see any evidence of the hail damage on the sides.
Entry door front - Has the original front door with the cool porthole style window. Door is in good shape but it looks like the bottom 14 inches has been replace that one time, but they did a very good job. Door has original lock and hardware which is in working condition but the actual H-20 door handle is missing. I believe these are still available as reproductions. No keys. Door will need new seals.
Entry door rear. Has the original aluminum entry door with the porthole window. Door is in pretty good shape but it does have some creases in it. Door is complete with hardware which is in working condition, no keys. Door hinge is very rusty and either needs lubricated good or replaced. Door opens and closes is hard because of this. We do offer the replacement hinges on our website. Door will need new seals.
Steps. Has The original steel slide out steps at both the front and rear door. These have surface rust but are in working condition.
Front hoist. No.
Hitch Coupler. Yes. Has the original coupler which is in working condition.
Roof and Vents. Spartans use an all aluminum roof which is Cambered. A cambered roof is much better and stronger than a flat roof. It sheds water better and can hold up to heavier snow loads and winter climates. Roof is in good condition but does have some very minor dents from hail. Has three of the four original aluminum vents which crank up but one has a galvanize steel cover which has been riveted in place. All roof vents will need new operators and seals, both of which we offer on our website.
Screen door . Has the original wood screen doors on front and rear door which are in fair condition.
Exterior lights. Has all four of the original KD 540 teardrop shaped marker lights with glass lenses and stainless steel bezels. Glass lenses and bezels appear to be in good condition. Has both of the original Bargman Trail-Lite number 2 tail lights with steel bezels. Glass lenses are in good shape and the steel bezels have surface rust. Has the original license plate light and bracket both glass lenses are in good shape and bracket has surface rust. Temporary tow lights have been added so that the trailer can be towed home safely.
Underbelly. Has the original underbelly material which is a Masonite type product. This product did not hold up after 60+ years so we normally just tear off all the old material and then undercoat the entire bottom of the trailer with a good quality automotive undercoating.
Windows. Has the original plexiglass windows in the front of the trailer. These are old and foggy and should be replaced. We do offer these windows on our website made out of UV stabilized polycarbonate. Has all of the original two piece aluminum windows which open and close. These windows are complete with all hardware and screens and are in working condition. Has the original Marvel brand aluminum window in the rear which is complete with all hardware. Has the rollup windows in the rear bedroom area, however there are no cranks on them so I have no idea if they work or not. All windows will need new seals which we do offer on our website.
INTERIOR
Interior is mostly original but is missing a few parts and pieces. Has the birch paneling which is in decent condition. There are some panels that will need replaced.
Cabinet and closet doors. Has most of the original cabinets, cabinet doors, closet doors and drawers which are in good shape but will need refinished.
Countertops. Has a pinkish colored kitchen countertop which I do not believe is original which is in fair condition.
Floor. Floor is solid in all walking areas but there are some soft spots in the front of the trailer right next to the walls.
Floor covering. Carpet, which is in fair condition.
Table. No, but plenty of room for a freestanding table.
Unit sleeps. Currently there are no beds in this trailer but there is room for 4 to 6 persons to sleep.
Walls. Has the natural birch wood work, most of which is in good condition. There are two ceiling panels and one panel where the original furnace was that will need to be replaced. Birch paneling like this is readily available.
