EXTERIOR
Description: The exterior of this trailer is mostly original with no major modifications and is in pretty nice shape. All of the original windows, doors, vents, and lights are there. This trailer is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine. . Questions??? please call Dan at 765-473-8088.
Bumper, Frame, & A-frame: It has a 5” x 1 ½” C channel. The frame does have some surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection.
Compartment Door/Keys: No.
Dents, Scratches & Damage: This trailer does have some dents and dings, which are mainly in the rear of the trailer. Some of these dents could probably be popped out a little bit. Some of the rub rail is damaged or missing but we do have the straight rub rail available on our parts e-store. The brown streaks on the bottom wraps are Liquid Nails caulking which comes off easily with paint remover.
Entry Door/Keys: Front door- It has the original entry door, which has the cool part whole style window. This door has original Bargman lock, which is in working condition. There are no keys for this door. It still has the original interior vinyl cover, which is pretty well shot but still works great for a pattern to make a new one. The door skin is in good shape with only minor dings. The Spartan doors are the best built doors you’ll find on a trailer. They are 3 inches thick in the middle and will hold up to a lot of slamming. This door has old seals, which should be replaced. Rear door- The condition is pretty much the same as the front door however it is missing the exterior door handle and the interior vinyl cover.
Entry Step: Both doors have the step brackets but the steps are not there. There is one loose step in the trailer. It has surface rust but appears to be in good condition. We do offer these reproduction steps on our parts e-store.
Front Hoist: It has the original front hoist, which has surface rust but is in working condition.
Hitch Coupler: It has the original hitch coupler, which is in working condition.
Roof: It has the original aluminum roof but it has been coated with some type of roof sealer, which is peeling in many places. This trailer has a cambered roof, which is much better than a flat roof. It is much stronger, sheds water better, and handles heavier snow loads in winter climates. All of the original aluminum crank up vents are there but will need new vent operators. We do offer these on our parts e-store.
Screen Door: Front- It has the original wood screen door but it is in pretty rough shape. Rear- It has the original wood screen door, which is in much better shape but still need a little work.
Tail, License & Marker Lights: It has all four of the original KD 540 marker lights with stainless steel bezels and glass lenses. All glass lenses and stainless steel bezels appear to be in good condition. It has the original Bargmen brand trail light number two tail lights with steel bezels and glass lenses. The steel bezels have surface rust and glass lenses appear to be in good condition. It has the original Bargman brand license plate light and bracket. Both the red lens and the clear cylindrical lens are in good condition. The housing has some pitting in the chrome. The license bracket is rusty but still solid. Temporary tow lights have been added to the rear of the trailer so that it can be towed home safely.
Underbelly: This year Spartan used an underbelly material that was made from Masonite or insulation board type material. These did not hold up over time. The majority of this underbelly material is currently missing. When we restore these trailers we normally just tear off all this old material and spray the entire bottom of the trailer with a good quality undercoating.
Window Glass/Seals: It has the original Plexiglas windows in the front but they are pretty much all three shot and needing replaced. We do offer these windows on our part e-store. It has all the original aluminum opening windows on the sides and rear. These windows are complete with all hardware. Several of these windows have been sealed shut with caulking. It has the roll down type windows in the rear bedroom, however there are no crank handles so I’m guessing they probably do not currently work. There are a couple of windows with cracked glass. All windows have old seals which should be replaced.

Catches: Original.
Countertops: It has the original countertops with the brown basket weave type vintage pattern. The countertop does show a little wear but is still in decent shape. It has matching backsplash, which is in good condition.
Floor: The floor is solid in most walking areas but does have some soft spots especially in the front and rear on the outer perimeter of the trailer.
Floor Covering: It has a short loop carpet with padding underneath so it is sort of hard to tell exactly how bad the floor is.
