EXTERIOR
The exterior of this trailer is mostly original and in pretty decent shape. It has the original windows doors and vents but the original exterior lights are missing. It is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. All of the exterior skin is aluminum and can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A-frame. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection.
Compartment doors. No.
Dents, scratches and damage. Has some small dents, dings and scrapes on the very front of the trailer. Both sides of this trailer are pretty good. There is some damage on the rear corner radiuses. There are some screw holes above the front door where an awning or something was once attached. There is a 2” x 2” hole to the right of the front door. We have covered this with foil tape to keep water out. Overall the exterior skin is in decent shape.
Entry door front. Has the original aluminum entry door. It has some minor dents and dings and some surface oxidation but no holes. Door is complete with original Bargman lock which is in working condition but no keys. The plexiglass window in the door has a crack in the corner and door will need new seals.
Entry door rear . Has the original aluminum entry door. Door skin is in decent shape but does have some very minor flaws. The exterior door handle is missing but it still has the interior lock box which is in working condition, but is missing the interior handle. We do offer a retrofit lock on our parts e-store. Door will need new seals.
Entry steps. Both slide out entry steps are missing but the brackets are still there but they are bent.
Front hoist. Has the original front hoist but it is not working and will need replaced.
Hitch coupler. Has the original hitch coupler which is in working condition.
Roof and vents. Has the original aluminum roof. It is very dirty but I do not see any damage. It looks like tar or roof coating has been applied around all the roof vents. The crank up roof vents will need new operators and seals. We do have these available in our parts e store.
Screen doors. Has screen doors made of plywood which are in fair to poor condition.
Exterior lights. All of the original exterior lights are missing from this trailer.
Underbelly. Has the original underbelly which is Masonite and is approximately 50% intact. We normally just tear off all this old material then undercoat the entire bottom side with a good quality automotive undercoating.
Windows. Has all the original windows. About half of the windows are all aluminum and half are aluminum and steel. Most windows are complete with all hardware however some windows are missing screens and there are several cracked windows. All windows have original seals which will need to be replaced. The rear window has plexiglass which has stress cracks at the bottom.
INTERIOR
The interior of this trailer is mostly original and very intact but very dirty. It needs a major cleaning. It has the original appliances, most of the original light fixtures and original cabinetry. It still has the inside portion of the doorbell which still works.
Cabinet in closet doors. Has the original Birch cabinet doors, closet doors and drawers. Most are in good shape but some do have some delamination or missing veneer.
Cabinet catches. Original.
Countertops. Has the original countertops with matching backsplash which are tan with a vintage swirl pattern. Countertops are in decent condition.
Floor. Is solid in 80% of the trailer, however there are a few soft spots.
Floor covering. Has some original linoleum at the rear of the trailer and 12 inch tiles in the rest of the trailer. All floor coverings are in poor condition.
Table. Yes, has the original table which matches the kitchen countertop. Still has the original U-shaped booth. Table top is in good condition.
Unit sleeps. Room for up to six persons.
Walls. Has the original birch walls and ceiling. There are several birch panels with water stains and delamination that will need to be replaced. This Birch paneling is still readily available.
RUNNING GEAR
Has the original running gear. Before we towed it we pulled the hubs and lubricated the bearings with WD-40. We towed the trailer approximately 250 miles with no problems.
Axles and springs. Has the original axles with leaf spring suspension. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid.
Dry weight. 6960#
Hitch ball height. Approximately 18 inches.
Safety chains. Yes, it has some safety chains but they are pretty flimsy.
Hitch weight. Approx. 835#
Hitch ball size. 2 inch.
Hubcaps. No.
Spare tire. No.
Tire condition. Has old tires which hold air but have severe weather checking. Tires are mounted on original split rims with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle. I would recommend new tires and rims if you will be towing this trailer on the road. Otherwise, it would be best to haul it on a flatbed trailer.
FURNISHINGS
Bed mattress. No.
Couch. No.
Curtains. No.
Dinette cushions. Yes, has the original U-shaped dinette cushions which are a brown vinyl. The backs are in pretty decent condition but the seat portion have some rips and are showing some wear.
ELECTRICAL
Has the original electrical system with a Cutler Hammer brand breaker box with for automatic reset circuit breakers. Spartan used good quality copper wiring. We tested all the outlets and lights and they are in working condition. Entire electrical system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
110 V lights. Yes. Most are original but a couple of non-original vintage lights have been added. All lights are in working condition.
12 V lights. No.
Brakes. Yes. Trailer has electric brakes on all four wheels. Electric brakes are in working condition.
Breakaway switch. Yes. Has a brand new Tekonsha brand breakaway kit which is in working condition.
Converter. No.
Interior fans. Yes, Has a fan over stove which is not currently working and has a fan in the bathroom which does currently work.
Plug for exterior lights. Has a brand new seven way plug. This is the same plug that most current RV is use.
Porch light. Yes, in working condition but not original.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Most of the original LP system is missing however it still does have the copper line going to the front of the trailer. Most of the LP system should be updated for safety reasons anyway. Entire LP system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
Automatic changeover. No.
Furnace. Yes. Has the original Coleman brand fuel furnace. Un-tested.
Gas bottles. No.
Gaslights. No.
Gas Regulator. Yes.
Oven range. Yes. Has the original Dixie stove. Stove does have both grates, all the knobs and shelves. One grate has a piece missing and the original clock is missing. Untested.
Refrigerator. Has the original Frigidaire refrigerator we plugged it in and the light came on but the compressor or fan did not kick on.
Water heater. Yes. Has the original Payne brand electric water heater. Untested.
Gallons. Six.
PLUMBING
Has the original copper and brass plumbing but I did find some cracked waterlines so you better plan on doing some plumbing work.
Air pump. No.
Freshwater tank. No.
Kitchen sink. Yes. Has the original 2 bowl kitchen sink, porcelain is in decent condition but has been touched up in several areas.
Lavatory. Has the original lavatory, porcelain is in decent shape but has been touched up in a couple of areas.
Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. Yes, has the original aluminum shower and fixtures.
Toilet. Yes. Has a newer house type toilet.
Tub. No.
Waist holding tank. No.
Water intake valve. No.
Water pump. No
SPECIAL
For the handyman or woman who can do most of the work themselves this would be a great restoration project. This trailer has solid bones and is mostly original and has lots of potential and is being offered at a very reasonable price.
