EXTERIOR. SOLD #1122165002019 (J.N.W.)
The exterior of this vintage Spartan is very original and very nice. It has the original doors which have the cool port hole style windows. It has all the original windows which are complete with all hardware. This trailer is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A -frame. Frame has some surface rust but appears to be good and solid in all areas. One side of the A-frame had some rust issues so we put one of our A-frame repair kits on it so that it would be safe to tow back to our shop.
Dents scratches and damage. The worst damage on this trailer is a small patch and small wrinkle on the very front of the trailer. Other than this, there are just very minor flaws and a few very small patches. There are two vertical areas on the driver’s side that appear a little darker than the rest of the trailer. These are areas we had to scrub real hard to remove sealer that was on the side of the trailer. These areas will dull in time or totally disappear if the trailer is polished.
Entry door front . Has the original aluminum entry door with the cool porthole style window. It has the original Bargman brand L-66 lock which is complete and in working order and does have one key. The exterior skin of the door has some minor oxidation but no holes and it does have a few very small dents. Door still has about 3/4 of the original interior vinyl cover. It is in poor shape but would work great for a pattern. Door will need new seals.
Entry door rear. Has the original aluminum entry door which also has the cool porthole style window. Has the original Bargman brand L-66 lock which is complete and in working order but do not have any keys. The exterior skin on the door is in very good condition however it does have one very small dent. This door also has the original interior vinyl cover on the door which is in much better shape than the front door but still is a little rough.. Door will need new seals.
Screen door front. Has the original front and rear-screen doors which are in fair condition.
Steps. Has the original slide out steps on both the front and the rear door. Steps are in good working condition but do you have some surface rust.
Front hoist. Has the original front hoist which is in working condition.
Hitch coupler. Has the original cast-iron hitch coupler which is in working condition. It cranks up and down fine but could stand to be lubricated.
Roof and Vents. Has the original aluminum cambered roof. A cambered roof is much better and stronger than a flat roof because it sheds water better and can hold up to higher snow loads in winter climates. We have re-coated all the roof seams. Roof has coating on entire roof including the top radius’s. Both roof vents will need new operators but we do carry these in our parts e-store. It looks like the front roof vent has been sealed shut.
Exterior lights. Has 4 new teardrop style marker lights which are very similar to the original ones. Has the original Bargman brand Trail-Lite # 2 tail lights with stainless steel bezels. It has one original glass lens which is in good shape and the other lens is a plastic reproduction lens. Has the original license plate light and bracket which is in good condition. Original lights are untested but temporary tow lights have been added to the rear of the trailer so that it can be towed home safely.
Underbelly. Has the original underbelly which is in good condition but there are a few small oxidation holes at some of the crossmembers.
Windows. Has the original curved plexiglass windows in the front. These have some scratches and star shaped stress cracks but no actual cracks in the Plexiglass. It has three nice picture windows which are non-opening. All the other windows are the original aluminum windows which are complete with all hardware and screens. Windows will probably need new seals. Two windows have small cracks in glass.
Door Bell. Yes, Has the original manual door bell. Both the exterior push button and the interior bell assembly are there. When you push the button outside the doorbell does sort of ring but it does sound exactly right. It may need adjusted or tweeked a little.
INTERIOR
The interior of this trailer is very complete, mostly original and in very nice shape but needing a good cleaning. This is one of the few Spartan models that has a very cool wood slide out table.
Cabinet and closet doors. Yes, has all the original birch cabinet doors, closet doors and drawers. All are in very good shape but the cabinet door in the bathroom has veneer that is chipped off the bottom corner.
Catches. Original and in working order.
Countertops. Has the original lime green kitchen countertop with matching backsplash which is in good shape but showing some wear from use. Has the original bathroom countertop which has a gray basket weave pattern and is in good condition.
Floor. Floor is solid in all areas. There is a small area in the rear bedroom which has had new plywood added.
Floor covering. Has both the original tiles and some carpet was added, both are in fair condition.
Table. Yes has a very cool wooden slide out table which you can add one or two leaves to. Both leaves are there. With both leaves in, the table is 25“ x 44“. Table comes with two vintage fold up wood chairs.
Unit sleeps. 4 persons.
Walls. Has the beautiful birch paneling on walls and ceiling which is in very good condition.
RUNNING GEAR
Has the original running gear with the exception of brand new tires and wheels. Before towing it, we removed the grease caps and made sure that there was adequate grease. We towed the trailer over 400 miles with no problems.
Axles and springs. Has the original axles with leaf spring suspension. These have surface rust but all appears to be good and solid.
Dry weight. 6425#
Hitch ball height. Approximately 20 inches.
Safety chains. No.
Hitch weight. Approx. 770#
Hitch ball size. 2-5/16 inch.
Hubcaps. No.
Spare tire. No.
Tire condition. Has four brand new 7:00-15LT 10 ply bias tires mounted on new non-split silver modular rims with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.
FURNISHINGS
Bed and mattress. There is a 54” x 73” box springs in the rear bedroom but no top mattress. It does have the original bed base which is birch.
Couch. Yes, has a small loveseat which has a fold-out bed on the inside.
Curtains. No.
ELECTRICAL
Has the original electrical system. The breaker box has 4 automatic reset circuit breakers. The lights and outlets in the front of the trailer work fine but they are not working in the bathroom and bedroom, so plan on doing some electrical troubleshooting. Entire electrical system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.
110 V lights. Yes. Most are original but some newer ones have been added. The 2 lights in the front living room have fiberglass shades that have melted spots where too large wattage bulbs were used. All the other shades are glass shades.
12 V lights. No.
Brakes. Yes. Has electric brakes on both axles which are in working condition. Breakaway switch. Yes. Has brand new Tekonsha brand break-away kit with battery. Converter. No.
Interior fans. Has an interior fan in the range hood above the stove which is in working condition. Has an interior fan in the bathroom which is not currently working.
Plug for exterior lights. Yes. Has a brand new seven way plug like most current RVs use.
Porch light. Yes. Has the original bell style porch light. This light will need a new socket to function correctly.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Still has the main copper line going from appliances to the front of the trailer but there are no LP tanks or LP tank holder on front. Entire LP system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.
Automatic changeover. Yes, has a newer automatic changeover regulator in the trailer loose which is complete with copper pigtails. It looks to be almost new.
Furnace. Yes. There is a Armstrong brand furnace in the trailer which is not original and is untested.
Gas bottles. No.
Gas lights. No.
Gas regulator. Yes.
Range/Oven. Yes, the trailer has a non-original Sears Kenmore brand 20 inch LP gas stove which is complete with all burners grates and knobs. One of the grates is cracked but could easily be repaired. All top burners work fine and the oven burner lit fine but we could not get the standing pilot to light.
Refrigerator. Yes. Has the original Frigidaire brand electric refrigerator which is complete with all shelves and crispers. We turned the refrigerator on and it did cool fine. Water heater. No.
PLUMBING
Has the original plumbing with copper freshwater lines and copper and brass drains. We did an air test on the freshwater lines and determine there are no cracked, missing or broken water lines. The lavatory faucet did leak a little air so it will need new seals or need to be replaced. We did flush the water lines and then ran RV antifreeze into the lines to prevent damage from freezing. Plumbing system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.
Air pump. No.
Freshwater tank. No.
Kitchen sink. Has the original 2 bowl kitchen sink. The sink is showing some wear from use and there are a couple of spots in the porcelain that have been touched up. Lavatory. Has the original bathroom lavatory. Porcelain has several areas that has been touched up.
Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. Yes, has a tub/shower combo. Looks like a newer faucet which has a hand held shower head with flexible hose.
Toilet. Yes. Has the original Mansfield brand porcelain toilet which appears to be in good shape. The tank lid has a crack that has been repaired.
Tub. Yes, has a 28” x 41” steel tub with porcelain coating. Porcelain is in very good condition.
Waste holding tank. No.
Water intake valve. Yes.
Water pump. No.
SPECIAL
This is a very nice trailer both inside and out. It won’t need a whole lot of work to be usable. It was actually being used when I bought it as a camp up in northern Michigan.
