Product Description
EXTERIOR
The exterior of this vintage Spartan is very original, very intact and very complete. It is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. The exterior has aircraft grade aluminum.
Frame. Frame has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas assessable for inspection. The A-frame does have some rust with pitting on one side where the metal plate is.
Dents, Damage and Scratches. The worst damage is on the front of the trailer where there are some wrinkles and dents. Other than that, there are only very small dents, holes or flaws. The door side of the trailer does have some oxidation which is mainly up high. Overall, the exterior is in pretty nice shape.
Entry Door Front. Has the original aluminum front door with the cool port hole style window. The door is in poor shape and probably should be replaced. The door does have the original Bargman brand L-66 lock which is in working condition but no keys. Any good locksmith can make keys for it. We do offer brand new custom made doors for Spartans on our website.
Entry Door Rear. Has the original aluminum entry door with the port hole style window. Door is in good shape overall. Hinge could stand to be lubricated. Does have the original Bargman brand L-66 lock, which is in working condition. No key. Door will need new seals.
Screen doors. No.
Steps. No.
Front hoist. Yes. Has the original front hoist which is in working condition.
Hitch Coupler. Yes. Has the original cast-iron hitch coupler which is in working condition. Has 2-5/16” ball.
Roof . No apparent damage to roof, but roof has had Kool Seal type coating applied to it.
Exterior Lights. Has the original exterior lights which are untested. Temporary tow lights will be needed to tow trailer home safely.
Underbelly. Has the original aluminum underbelly. The aluminum underbelly is missing in the front 5 foot of the trailer. Otherwise, the underbelly is all intact and in decent shape.
Windows. Has the original plexiglass windows in the front which are in decent shape, but showing some wear. Has all the original opening windows, which are all complete with hardware and screens with the exception of one window lever is missing. We do have these available on our web store. There is no cracked, broke or missing glass. All windows will need new seals.
INTERIOR
The interior has pretty well been gutted. This would be a perfect trailer to create your own new floorplan or it could be used for a commercial application.
Floor. Floor is solid in 75 to 80% of the trailer, but it does have some soft spots and holes.
Running Gear. Has the original running gear with the exception of brand new tires and wheels. We pulled the grease caps and there was adequate grease so we did not repack the wheel bearings. We towed this trailer over 200 miles with no issues. If you will be towing this long-distance, I would recommend having the wheel bearings inspected and repacked. We can do this here at our shop for an additional charge.
Axle and Springs. Has the original axles with leaf spring suspension. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid.
