EXTERIOR
The exterior of this vintage Spartan is very complete, very original and pretty darn straight. It has all the original doors windows and vents. It is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A-frame. Frame has some surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection.
Dents, scratches and damage. There are some shallow scratches between the entry doors and some dents and dings on the bottom wrap at the rear of the trailer. Overall the exterior is very nice and straight.
Entry door front. Has the original aluminum entry door with the cool porthole style window. Has the original Bargman brand lock which is in working condition but we have no keys. Keys can be made by a good locksmith. Exterior of door has some dents and scratches and several screw holes. It still has most of the vinyl interior door cover which is in poor shape but would work good for a pattern. Has new stainless steel catch to hold door in open position.
Entry door rear. Has the original aluminum entry door with the porthole style window. Has the original Bargman lock but it is missing the cylinder. I believe new cylinders and keys are available on our parts e-store. The exterior skin is in good condition with only some very minor dings at the top. It also still has the original interior vinyl door cover which would work great for a pattern. Has new stainless steel catch to hold door in open position.
Screen doors. There are no screen doors on the trailer now but the screen door for the front door is inside the trailer but it is in poor condition. The rear screen door is missing. We offer new oak screen doors on our website.
Entry step front. Step is missing on front door but is inside the trailer closet. The step and bracket have some surface rust and metal which is bent up and need straightened.
Entry step rear. Rear step is there and in working condition but it also does have some surface rust.
Front hoist. Has the original front hoist but it has been cut off on the bottom and needs to be replaced.
Hitch coupler. Has the original hitch coupler which is in working condition.
Roof and Vents. Has the original aluminum roof with riveted construction. This trailer has a cambered roof which is much better and stronger than a flat roof. It sheds water better and can hold up to heavier snow loads in winter climates. Roof is dirty but does not appear to have any damage. Roof vents will need new operators which we do carry on our parts e-store.
Exterior lights. Has all four of the original style teardrop marker lights with good plastic lenses. Has the original Bargman Trail-Lite #2 tail lights with glass lenses and stainless steel bezels. Glass lenses appear to be in good shape. Has the original Bargman Trail-Lite #4 license light and bracket. Both the clear lens and the red lens appear to be in good condition. All original lights are un-tested but temporary tow lights have been added in the rear so the trailer can be towed home safely.
Underbelly. Has the original aluminum underbelly which is in pretty good shape. It does have some small corrosion holes at the rear of the trailer.
Windows. Has the original curved plexiglass windows in the front which are in good condition but do you have some scuffing and scratching from age but no cracks. Has the original radius cornered aluminum windows which all open up. All these windows are complete with all hardware and all have screens except one. All windows have old seals which should be replaced. We do have the seals available on our website.
INTERIOR
The interior of this trailer is in very nice condition. It is very original and very complete and it also has an awesome floor plan which has two bedrooms. One in the very front and one in the very rear, with the living room and kitchen and bathroom in between.
Cabinet and closet doors. Has the original birch cabinets and closet doors which are in good shape. One cabinet door has a small piece of veneer that is chipped off the bottom corner. Catches. Original and in working condition.
Countertops. Kitchen has the original countertops with matching backsplash. It has the gray basket weave pattern and countertops are in very good condition. Bathroom has same gray basket weave pattern countertops which are also in good condition.
Floor. The floor is solid in all areas. There are some areas where new plywood was installed.
Floor covering. Has the original 9 inch floor tiles throughout the trailer some areas are in good shape and some are in poor shape. Table. Yes. Has a vintage table with four matching chairs. Plywood under Formica top of table is starting to delaminate.
Unit sleeps. There is room for up to six persons to sleep in this trailer.
Walls. Has the natural birch paneling on both the walls and the ceiling. The paneling is in good condition overall. There are some panels where the finish is starting to flake off. The ceiling panel above the furnace is water stained around the flue and is delaminating and probably should be changed.
RUNNING GEAR
Has the original running gear with the exception of brand new tires and wheels. The wheel bearings were inspected and repacked. We pulled this trailer over 600 miles with no problems.
Axles and springs. Has the original axles and springs. These have surface rust but everything appears to be good.
Dry weight. 8110#
Hitch ball height. Approximately 20 inches.
Safety chains. No.
Hitch weight. Approximately 1000 pounds.
Hitch ball size. 2 5/16”.
Hubcaps. No.
Spare tire. No.
Tire condition. Has four brand new 7:50x 16” 10 ply bias tires mounted on new non-split 16” rims with 6 lugs on 5-1/2” bolt circle.
FURNISHINGS
Rear bedroom has the original Birch bed base set up for a 73”x 54” mattress. The front bedroom also has the original Birch bed base and has an older 72“ x 33“ mattress. There is plenty of room in this bedroom for a larger mattress.
Couch/gaucho. Yes, it has a period correct couch with a bed that folds out from it.
Curtains. No.
ELECTRICAL
Has the original electrical system which has a Magnetrip box with four automatic reset circuit breakers. Spartan is a high-quality trailer which used all copper wiring. All 110 V lights and electrical outlets are in working condition. Entire electrical system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
110 V lights. Yes. Has all of the original light shades and fixtures which are in working condition.
12 V lights. No.
Brakes. Yes. Has electric brakes on both axles which are in working condition.
Breakaway switch. Yes. Has a brand new Tekonsha brand breakaway kit with battery.
Converter. No.
Interior fans. Yes. The fan over the range hood works, the one in the bathroom does not work and the two fans that help move heat into the bedrooms are in working condition.
Plug for exterior lights. Yes. Has brand new seven way plug like most current RVs use.
Porch light. Yes. Has the original bell type porch light which is in working condition.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Has the original copper LP line coming to the front of the trailer but rest of LP system is missing or in the trailer loose. Most of these LP items should be replaced for safety reasons anyway. Entire LP system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.
Automatic changeover. No.
Furnace. Yes. Has the original Coleman brand heater which is fuel oil and untested.
Gas bottles. No.
Gas lights. No.
Gas regulator. Yes, regulator and LP pigtails with copper lines are in closet of trailer.
Range oven. Yes has the original 20 inch Dixie brand LP gas stove. This is the deluxe model that has the window to look into the oven. Stove is complete with all grates, burners, wire shelves and knobs. The pilots, top burners and oven burners all do light.
Refrigerator. Yes, has the original Frigidaire brand refrigerator made by General Motors. Refrigerator is complete with all shelves and dehydrator box. It even has one of the original aluminum ice cube trays. Refrigerator does cool but is a little noisy.
Water heater. Yes, Has the original Payne brand Electric water heater which is 6 gallons. Un-tested.
PLUMBING
Has the original plumbing with copper freshwater lines and copper and brass drains I did a visual inspection and did not see any cracked water lines so we pressurized the water lines with air. It would not hold pressure so I’m guessing that there is a cracked or disconnected water line so it will need some plumbing work done.
Air pump. No.
Freshwater tank. No.
Kitchen sink. Yes, has the original two bowl kitchen sink porcelain is in good shape but has a few areas that has been touched up. Lavatory. Yes, has the original lavatory. Porcelain is in good condition but has been touched up in a couple of areas.
Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. Yes, has the tub shower combo. It still has the original fixture which swings up for a shower and swings down for a bath.
Toilet. Yes. Has the original Mansfield brand toilet. Toilet base appears to be in good condition but lid for tank has a small chip by the handle. Un-tested.
Tub. Yes. Has a 24“ x 54“ tub. Porcelain is in good condition but has one area that has been touched up.
Waste holding tank. No.
City intake valve. Yes.
Water pump. No.
Special. This vintage Spartan is very original very complete and in pretty nice shape. It would make a nice guest trailer or a nice trailer to park on a lake or river for nice weekend get-away.
