EXTERIOR
The exterior of this trailer is very original, complete, and intact. It has the original doors, windows, and vents. This trailer is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability.
Frame and A frame. It has surface rust but all areas accessible for inspection look to be good and solid.
Dents, scratches, and damage. The worst damage is on the curbside rear of the trailer, which has a medium sized dent and scratch. The street side of the trailer has some oxidation. It is not severe enough to cause any holes but it does darken the appearance of the aluminum skin. This oxidation is normally caused by an awning or room addition, which was previously on that side of the trailer. Due to this oxidation I would not recommend having this trailer polished. There are other minor dents and dings on this trailer but overall the exterior skin is in pretty nice condition. Entry doors. It has the original entry doors, which are in decent condition with only minor flaws. They do have some holes from a hasp, which have been covered with foil tape to keep water out. They have the original Bargman brand locks, which are in working condition. There are no keys. They still have the original vinyl covers on the interior of the doors, which are in poor shape but work great for a pattern.
Front entry step. It has the original slide out step, which is in working condition but does have some minor surface rust. Rear entry step. The step is missing but still has the brackets, which are in good condition.
Front hoist. It has the original front hoist that is rusted and froze up and will need replaced.
Hitch Coupler. It has the original hitch coupler, which is in working condition.
Roof and Vents. It has the original roof and vents. It has the original aluminum cambered roof. A cambered roof is much better than a flat roof because it sheds water better and can hold up to heavier snow loads and winter climates. There is no obvious damage to this roof but there appears to be some minor hail damage. Some type of aluminum roof coating has been added in the past but it is pretty thin.
Screen doors. It has the original aluminum screen doors, which are in good condition.
Exterior lights. It has the original exterior lights, which are showing wear and should be replaced.
Underbelly. It has the original aluminum underbelly, which is in good condition with only a few very minor holes.
Windows. It has all of the original windows. The front corner Plexiglas windows are popping out of the rubber seals and are showing some wear but I do not see any actual cracks. There are a few of the windows, which open that are missing the hardware on the interior. There is one window that has Plexiglas and one window that is cracked. All the other windows are glass and are in good condition. All windows have old seals which should be replaced.
INTERIOR
The interior of this trailer is mostly original but it is missing the kitchen appliances. This is a two bedroom model, which is very desirable. It has the blonde Birch woodwork, which the panels are in decent shape but the finish is peeling in several areas.
Cabinets and closets. It has the original cabinets and closets. They are in good condition. Catches. They are original.
Countertops. It has the original kitchen countertops with matching backsplash. The countertops are in decent condition but do show some wear. The countertop in the middle bedroom is original with a white marble type pattern. The countertop is in good condition but the T-molding on the edge needs replaced. The bathroom countertop is original with a vintage black and white pattern. This countertop is in good condition. But again the T-molding on the edge needs replaced.
Floor. The floor is solid in all areas of the trailer except for the rear bedroom. The rear bedroom has some soft spots on the outer edges by the walls.
Floor covering. It has the original 9 inch tiles, which are in fair to poor condition and some carpet has been laid loose in the front of the trailer, which is in fair condition. Table. Yes, it has a small table with booth, which is in good condition but is not original.
Unit sleeps. Currently there is only one bed in the trailer but there is enough room for 4 to 6 peoples to sleep if additional beds were added.
Walls. It has the original birch paneling on walls and ceiling. The panels themselves are in pretty good condition however the finish is peeling off in many areas.
RUNNING GEAR
It has the original running gear with the exception of brand new tires and wheels. We sprayed the bearings with WD-40 and towed the trailer over 400 miles with no issues.
Axles and springs. It has the original axles with leaf spring suspension. It has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid.

Spare tire. No
Tire condition. It has four brand new 7:50 x 16LT 10 ply bias tires mounted on new non-split rims with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.
FURNISHINGS
Bed. It has a 38” x 74” bed in middle bedroom. This bed is set up for a bunk above the lower bed but does not have the wood hardware or mattress.
Couch. No.
Curtains. No.
Dinette cushions. No.
ELECTRICAL
It has the original electrical system. The breaker box has four of the automatic reset circuit breakers. Spartans were a high-quality trailer, which used all copper wiring in the electrical systems. All lights and fans are in working condition. Entire electrical system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
12 V lights. No.
Brakes. It has brakes on both axles, which are in working condition.
Breakaway switch. Yes, it has a brand new Tekonsha brand breakaway kit with battery. Converter. No.
Interior fans. Yes. The fan at the range hood is missing. The fan behind where the oven goes is there and in working condition. The fan in the bathroom is there and in working condition.
Plug for exterior lights. Yes. It has a brand new seven way plug. This is the same type a plug that new RVs use.
Porch light. It has the original bell type porch light.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Most of the original LP system is gone however most of these items should be replaced for safety reasons anyway. Entire LP system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
Automatic changeover. No.
Furnace. Yes. It has the original Coleman brand fuel oil furnace. It is untested.
Gas bottles. No.
Gas lights. No.
Gas regulator. No.
Range oven. No.
Refrigerator. No.
Water heater. Yes, but it does not have water lines hooked up to it so it is probably bad. Water heater capacity is 20 gallons.
PLUMBING
It has the original copper freshwater lines and original copper and brass drains. Several lines in the bathroom area have been disconnected so plan on doing some plumbing. Entire plumbing system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
Air pump. No.
Freshwater tank. No.
Kitchen sink. It has the original two-bowl kitchen sink. The porcelain is in pretty nice condition.
Lavatory. It has the original bathroom lavatory. The porcelain is in good condition but it has been touched up in a few small areas.
Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. Originally it had a tub-shower combo but the faucet and plumbing has been removed from the shower and bath.
Toilet. No.
Tub. Yes, it has a 28” x 42” tub. The porcelain is in good condition but has been touched up in a couple of areas. Tub and tub trim is currently not installed.
Waste holding tank. No.
Water intake valve. Yes.
Water pump. No.
SPECIAL
This trailer is a perfect candidate for restoration for the man or a woman who can do the work themselves. This trailer has a solid balance and is mostly original. This would make a great trailer for a guest trailer or park it on the river or lake as a vacation home. You will be hard-pressed to find a vintage trailer that is built as well as the Spartans are.
