EXTERIOR
The exterior of this Vintage Spartan is pretty nice. It does not have any major damage, but it does have some minor dents and dings. It is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A-frame. Frame and A-frame have surface rust. Drivers side of A-frame has some rust with small holes down low. Rest of frame appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection.
Dents, scratches and damage. There is some oxidation with small holes on the bottom wraps on the driver side of the trailer. There is no major damage on the trailer, only small dents and dings. Overall, the trailer has a pretty nice exterior skin.
Entry Door Front. Has the original aluminum entry door, which has lots of dents, but it does still open and close properly. The original Bargman lock has been replaced with a aftermarket lock. Door will need new seals.
Entry Door Rear. Has the original aluminum entry door which is in very nice shape. Has the original Bargman L-66 lock but the handle is broken and it’s missing the cylinder . Door will need new seals.
Screen Door Front. No. Missing.
Screen Door Rear. Yes, has the original aluminum screen door, which is a nice condition. Could probably stand to be rescreened.
Entry steps. Rear door has brackets and step but is bent up. Front door has brackets which are bent up but step is missing.
Front hoist. Has a brand new 2000 # top wind hoist.
Hitch coupler. Has a Brand new 2 5/16 inch hitch coupler.
Roof and Vents. Has all the original aluminum vents on roof, which are in good shape except the vent cap for the furnace was missing. Opening has been covered to keep rain out. Rest of the roof looks to be in very good condition with no apparent damage.
Exterior lights. Has all four of the original beehive type marker lights. The steel bases are rusty but all the glass lenses are in good shape. Has the original tail lights which are showing wear. We do offer replacement tail lights for these in stainless steel. Has the original license light and bracket which has surface rust. Temporary tow lights will need to be added to this trailer to tow it home safely.
Underbelly. Has the original underbelly which is in pretty decent condition. There are some small holes, but nothing major.
Windows. Has the original front curved plexiglass windows which are in pretty decent shape. I did not see any cracks. However, the drivers side window is popping out of the original gasket and has been taped up. Has all of the original opening windows, except one. The very rear window is missing the original window and just has had a storm window added. There is no broken, cracked or missing glass. All windows will need new seals. Some of the windows do have bad operators.
INTERIOR
The interior of this trailer is mostly original but will need some work. There are several bad birch panels, mainly underneath the windows
Cabinet and closet doors. Yes, original.
Catches. Yes, original but a few are missing.
Floor. Floor has had plywood pieced over the top of the original floor .
Floor covering. None. Just the bare plywood.
Table. No. But plenty of room for a freestanding table.
Unit sleeps. Currently no beds in the unit but room for up to six persons.
Walls. Has the original birch paneling on walls and ceiling. There are several birch panels that will need to be replaced, mainly underneath the windows.
RUNNING GEAR
Has the original running gear with the exception of brand new tires and wheels. We pulled the grease caps and there was adequate grease so we did not repack the wheel bearings. We towed the trailer over 200 miles with no issues. If going further, I would suggest having the wheel bearings inspected and re-packed which we can do for an additional cost.
Axle. Has the original axle with leaf springs. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good in solid.
Dry weight. 7625#
Hitch ball height. Approximately 18 inches.
Safety chains. No.
Hitch weight. Approx. 900#
Hitch ball size. 2 5/16 inch.
Hub caps. No.
Spare tire. No.
Tire condition. Has four brand new 7:50 x 16LT 10 ply bias tires mounted on new silver mod wheels with six bolts on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.
FURNISHINGS
There are no beds, mattresses, couches or curtains in this trailer.
ELECTRICAL.
Has what appears to be the original electrical system but looks like a newer box has been added above that but it’s not hooked up yet. Electrical system is untested. Entire electrical system should be checked by a certified expert before use.
12 Volt Lights. No
110 Volt lights. Yes. Has most of the original lights in the trailer, but they are untested.
Brakes. Yes, Has brakes on both axles. We tested brakes when we changed the tires and all four appeared to be working but when we were towing the trailer, we could not feel the brakes working. Breakaway switch. No.
Converter. No.
Plug for exterior lights. Yes, has brand new seven way plug like most current trailer use.
Porch light. Yes. Has the original bell type porch light but it is in the trailer loose and some of the mounting holes are cracked off.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Most of the original LP system is missing however, the LP racks are still there. Most of these items should be replaced for safety reasons anyway. Entire LP system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.
Furnace. Yes. Has the original International furnace which I believe is fuel oil. Furnace is untested. Gas bottles. No.
Gas lights. No.
Gas regulator. No.
Range/Oven. Yes, has the original 30 inch Dixie range with oven on bottom and four burners on top. Also, it has either a center burner or griddle on top as well. Stove has all grates, knobs handles and racks, but is un-tested .
Refrigerator. No.
Water heater. Yes. Has what appears to be the original gas water heater. 30 gallon. Untested.
PLUMBING
Has most of the original copper freshwater lines and copper drain lines but a few of the freshwater copper lines have been cut.
Freshwater tank. No.
Kitchen sink. Yes, has the original two bowl extra deep kitchen sink. There are several chips in the porcelain.
Lavatory. Yes. Has the original bathroom lavatory. Has a couple of small chips in the porcelain. Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. No, originally the trailer had a small tub with shower but that has been removed.
Toilet. Yes. Has the original Mansfield toilet, which appears to be in good condition, but is not mounted and un-tested.
Tub. No.
Waste holding tank. No.
Water intake valve. Yes.
Air-conditioning. No.
