EXTERIOR
The exterior of this trailer is mostly original and mostly intact. This Spartan is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame and A-frame. It has some surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection.
Compartment doors. No.
Dents, scratches, and damage. There are no major dents on this trailer. There are a few minor scrapes and dings as evident in photos.
Entry door front. It has the original aluminum entry door. The door has some minor damage at the bottom where it looks like it was pushed in. It has a vintage L 66 Bargman brand lock. The lock works but the lock button on the interior is taped so that it does not accidentally get locked. This door has the original seal, which should be replaced. There are no keys for this door.
Rear door. It has the original aluminum entry door, which is in good condition. It has the original Bargmen brand L 66 lock. The interior lever is broke off but otherwise the lock seems to function fine. This door also has the original seal, which should be replaced. There is also no keys for this door.
Steps. It has the original steps at front and rear door. Both of them do slide in and out however the front door step has a crack in the metal and will either need welded or repaired.
Front hoist. It has the original front hoist, which is in working condition.
Hitch coupler. It has the original cast iron hitch coupler, which is in working condition. The lever is bent a little bit but it still functions fine.
Roof and Vents. It has the original roof with the original vents. It is dirty but there is no apparent damage.
Screen door. The front and rear has the original screen doors, which are in decent condition. The front door is missing one of the screen sliders.
Exterior lights. It has all four of the original beehive type marker lights with the glass lenses and steel bezels. All the lenses appear to be in good condition the steel bezels do have rust. It is missing the original exterior tail lights. It does have the original license plate light and bracket.
Underbelly. It has the original underbelly, which is in decent condition. There are a few small holes in the front section of the underbelly and some larger holes in the rear underbelly.
Windows. It has the original aluminum windows. Several of the windows have operators that are bad or stripped out. There are no screens on the windows but there are four screens in the closet loose. One of the upper vent windows has a crack in the glass. One window in the rear bedroom does not currently open. It has brackets on the outside holding it shut. The front corner Plexiglass windows are popping out of the rubber gasket, however we have tape them up to keep water out. All windows have old original seals. All windows will need to be restored and get new seals.
INTERIOR
Interior. The interior on this trailer is mostly original and intact but it is a little rough. It is a two bedroom model, which is nice. It still does have the kitchen and bathroom intact. Cabinets and closet doors. It has most of the original cabinets and closet doors still intact. The upper kitchen cabinets are starting to pull away from the ceiling a little bit and will need reattached. There are a few closet doors that are delaminating at the bottom.
Catches. Yes, they are original.
Countertops. It has the original red countertops in the kitchen with the matching backsplash. The countertop is faded and showing wear. It has the original bathroom countertop with matching backsplash. It is sort of a speckled vintage pattern. It is in pretty decent condition.
Floor. The floor is solid on 90% of the trailer, however there is a hole approximately 2 ft.² in the living room area, a 7'x2' area which is soft in rear bedroom and a 3'x3' area that is soft in the hall.
Floor covering. It has newer linoleum in most areas, which is in poor condition.
Table. No but there is plenty of room for a freestanding table.
Unit sleeps. There are currently no beds in this unit but there is room for 4 to 6 people to sleep.
Walls and Ceiling. It has the original Birch paneling, which is in fair to poor condition and several panels are missing.
RUNNING GEAR
It Has the original running gear with the exception of four brand new tires and rims. We pulled the hubs off and sprayed the bearings with WD-40 and they stayed nice and cool for the trip home, which was approximately 400 miles.
Axles and Springs. It has the original axles with leaf spring suspension. They do have some surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid.
Dry weight. 8600#
Hitch Ball Height. Approximately 20 inches
Safety chains. No.
Hitch weight. Approx: 1032#
Hitch ball size 2 5/16 inch.
Hubcaps. No.
Spare tire. No.
Tire condition. It has four brand new 7:50 x 16LT 10 ply tires mounted on new non-split rims with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.
FURNISHINGS
Most of the freestanding furnishings in this trailer have been removed.
Bed mattresses. No.
Couch. No.
Curtains. No.
Dinette cushions. No.
ELECTRICAL
It has the original electrical system with a breaker box with four automatic reset circuit breakers. Most of the electrical outlets and lights work however several lights have been removed. The other ones all appear to be original. Entire electrical system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
110 V lights. Yes, Most of the original lights are still there. Some do work and some don’t work.
12 V lights. No.
Brakes. Yes, it has electric brakes on both axles, which are in working condition. Breakaway switch. Yes, it has a brand new Tekonsha brand breakaway kit, which is wired up and in working condition.
Converter. No.
Interior fans. Yes, it has a fan at the range hood and in the bathroom but neither one is currently working.
Plug for exterior lights. Yes, it has a brand new seven way plug like most current RVs use.
Porch light. No.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Some of the original LP system is there but most of these items should be replaced for safety reasons anyway. Entire LP system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
Automatic changeover. No.
Furnace. Yes, it has the original International brand fuel oil furnace, which is untested. Gas bottles. No.
Gas lights. No.
Gas regulator. Yes.
Range oven. Yes, it has the original 30 inch Dixie brand range, which has four burners on top with a burner or griddle in the middle and has the oven below. All grates, griddle, and cover are there however two oven knobs are missing. All burners do light. Refrigerator. No.
Water heater. Yes, it has what I believe is the original gas water heater. It is a Skelgas brand.
Water Heater Capacity is 20 gallons. The water heater is untested.
PLUMBING
It has some of the original copper plumbing for the freshwater lines but some plastic has also been added. It has the original copper and brass drains. I did a visual inspection and did not see any cracked or disconnected lines but we did not test the system with water. Entire plumbing system and appliances should be check by a certified expert before use.
Air pump. No.
Freshwater tank. No
Kitchen sink. Yes, it has the original two bowl kitchen sink. There are several areas where the porcelain has been touched up.
Lavatory. Yes, it has the original lavatory. There are several areas where the porcelain has been touched up.
Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. Yes.
Toilet. Yes, it has a newer house type toilet.
Tub. Yes, it has the 28 inch x 42 inch original tub. The porcelain appears to be in pretty good shape but there is silicon around the drain.
Waste holding tank. No.
Water intake valve. No.
Water pump. No.
SPECIAL
For the handyman or handy woman who can do most of the work themselves this would be a great restoration project. The exterior is in pretty nice condition and the interior will need most of the work. This would make a great guest house or could even be use for a commercial application.
OTHER
This trailer comes with a new reproduction owner’s manual.
