EXTERIOR
Description: The exterior of this vintage Avion is in pretty decent shape it has the original windows, original entry door, and original exterior lights. This trailer has the 13 panel front and rear caps, which are very popular and very cool. This Avion is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine. Questions??? Please call Dan at 765-473-8088.
Bumper, Frame, & A-frame: It has 2“ x 4“ rectangular steel frame. It has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection. The rear bumper has slight bend in it.
Compartment Door/Keys: It has the original aluminum compartment door, which is in good shape but we have no key. Compartment door to back of refrigerator is in good shape also. No key.
Dents, Scratches & Damage: The worst damage on this trailer is on the street side radius above the front window. It has some dents and wrinkles there. There is also dent, damage, and tears to the bottom radius. However the main part of the body as well as the front and rear 13th panel caps are in pretty decent shape.
Entry Door/Keys: It has the original aluminum entry door with the original Bargmen L 66 lock. The lock is in working condition but we have no key. The aluminum skin is in very good condition with only very minor flaws. The door will need new seals.
Entry Step: It has the original slide out step however it is bent up and will need some work.
Front Hoist: It is old, rusty, froze up, and needs replaced.
Hitch Coupler: It has the original hitch coupler, which is in working condition. It takes a 2 5/16 inch ball.
Roof: It has the original aluminum roof, which appears to be in good condition. It has the original roof vents in the center and rear but the front roof vent has a cover only, which has been screwed down. One of the vent caps for the refrigerator roof vent is missing.
Screen Door: It has the original aluminum screen door, which is a pocket type door screen and frame is in decent condition.
Tail, License & Marker Lights: It has the original teardrop shaped marker light bases but most of the lenses are missing. The bases are rusty so they really need to be replaced anyway. It has the original Bargmen trail-lite number 6 but they are in poor condition and needs replaced. It has the original Bargman license plate bracket the aluminum base is in good condition. The bracket is a little rusty and needs painted. Temporary tow lights have been added to the rear of this trailer so that it can be towed home safely.
Underbelly: It has the original aluminum underbelly. The front two panels have some severe oxidation and should be replaced. The rest of the trailers’ underbelly is in pretty decent condition with only some minor tears and holes.
Window Glass/Seals: It has the original aluminum windows, which are Keene brand. All of the window operators work but several need to be lubricated. All the windows have screens except the front and rear screens will need work. There is no broken, damaged, or cracked glass but there is one small BB hole in the front center window. One of the bedroom windows has Plexiglas instead of real glass. All windows will need new seals.
INTERIOR
Description: The interior is mostly original with the original stove, furnace, refrigerator, and most of the original light fixtures. The walls have been painted blue and a lot of custom artwork has been added. This trailer was full of walnut shells when we got it so the squirrels had been living rent free for many years. I’m sure there are still a few walnut shells on the interior and in the underbelly. The interior is very dirty and needs a major cleaning.
Cabinet - Closet Doors: It look like these are all here but some have been chewed up by squirrels and others have some wood that is delaminating. However most of them are in pretty decent shape.
Catches: Original. Most are there but a few are missing.
Countertops: It has the original countertops with a cool vintage pattern and are in pretty good shape.
Floor: The floor on this trailer is in pretty bad shape I would say approximately 50% of it is bad so you might figure replacing it all.
Floor Covering: It has short loop carpet, which is in poor condition.
Table: No. There originally was a table at the dinette but it is missing.
Unit Sleeps: Room for four people.
Walls: It has the original aluminum walls, which appear to be in good shape but they have been painted blue with glow in the dark stars added for that romantic effect.
RUNNING GEAR
Description: It has the original running gear with the exception of brand new tires and wheels. We have not inspected or repack the wheel bearings but we had no problems towing it approximately 150 miles.
Axle/Springs: It has the original axle with leaf spring suspension. These have surface rust but still appear to be good and solid.
Dry Weight: 2700#
Hitch Ball Height: Approximately 19 inches.
Hitch Ball Size: 2 5/16 inch
Hitch Weight: Approximately 270 pounds.
Hub Caps: No.
Safety Chains: No
Spare Tire: No.
Tire Conditions: It has two brand new 7:00-15 LT 10 ply bias tires mounted on new non-split rims with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.
FURNISHINGS
Description: There is one twin bed in the trailer the other one has been removed. This twin bed measures 76“ x 33“ The front dinette is designed to fold into a 76“ x 42“ bed. There are no mattresses on any of the beds.
Bed/Mattresses: No.
Couch/Gaucho: No.
Curtains: No.
Dinette Cushions: No.
ELECTRICAL
Description: It has the original electrical system, which uses two screw in glass fuses. Most of the 110 V outlets and lights do work. Entire Electrical system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.
110 Volt Lights: Yes. It has the original 110 volt lights. They all work except the two wall sconces in the bedroom area.
12 Volt Int. Lights: Yes. It has one in the ceiling and untested.
Brakes: This trailer does have breaks but are untested.
Breakaway Switch: No.
Converter: No.
Int. Fan(s): Yes there is a fan over the stove, which is not currently working. There is also a fan in the center roof vent, which is working.
Plug for Ext. Lights: This trailer uses a four prong flat plug like most boat trailers use.
Porch Light: Yes. It has the original porch light grab handle combo. The porch light does not work but may just need bulb.
RV Battery: No.
LP SYSTEM
Description: It has what looks to be the original LP system with 2 - 30 pound LP tanks. These tanks will need to have the new OPD valves installed. It has the original copper pig tails and copper line coming to regulator. Entire LP system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.
Auto Changeover: No
Furnace: Yes. It has the original carrier mobile ray brand gas furnace, which is untested.
Gas Bottle(s): Yes
Gas Light(s): Yes. It has the original Humphrey brand gas light. It is untested.
Gas Regulator: Yes
Range/Oven: Yes. It has the original Preway brand 20 inch freestanding gas stove with four burners on top and oven on bottom. The oven is untested.
Refrigerator: Yes. It has the original Krefft brand gas refrigerator. It is untested.
Water Heater: Yes. It has an old 110 V water heater that it is probably no good.
Water Heater - Gallons: 6
PLUMBING
Description: It has the original plumbing with copper fresh water lines and original plastic drain’s. I did a visual inspection and did find cracked copper lines so you better figure new plumbing lines for this trailer. We usually replace old lines with pex. Entire Plumbing system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.
Air Pump: No.
Fresh Water Tank: No. It originally had one but it is missing.
Kitchen Sink: Yes. It has the original two bowl kitchen sink. The Porcelain looks to be in good shape but drain baskets will need replaced.
Lavatory: Yes. It has the original lavatory. The porcelain is in very good shape.
Sewer Holding Tank: Yes.
Shower: Yes. It has the original fiberglass tub shower combo. There are stress cracks in the fiberglass but I do not see any cracks that go all the way through. They appear to be just in the gelcoat. It has the original shower faucet and hardware also.
Toilet: Yes. It has the original Saniware brand pink toilet. It is untested.
Tub: Yes. It has the tub shower combo.
Waste Holding Tank: No.
Water Intake Valve (City): No.
Water Pump: No.
OTHER
Description: This trailer will not need much work until you can take it out and start enjoying the great outdoors. It could be used as a tiny home, a guest house or whatever creative use you can think of. Vintage Spartans as nice as this one are getting harder and harder to find due to their popularity. I am convinced that Spartan are one of the highest quality trailer ever built. This one can be tastefully decorated to suit your personal preferences.
