EXTERIOR
The exterior of this vintage Airstream is about as sweet as they come for a 60+ year old camper. The front and rear caps are in very nice condition.
Bumper, frame and A-frame. Everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection.
Compartment doors. There is a 11” x 30” rear compartment door. It has some small dents on it but nothing major. No key
Dents scratches and damage. There are no major dents or dings on main body of trailer, only very, very minor ones that you have to look for to find. The bottom wraps do have your typical dents, dings and damage.
Entry door. Has the original aluminum entry door. The skin of the door is in very good shape with the exception of a small wrinkle at the very bottom. The exterior lock is not original but is in working condition. No keys. It does have the original stainless steel hinges and it has the coveted door within a door for the screen door. Door has old seals which should be replaced.
Step. Yes ,has the original slide out step but it is currently froze up in the closed position.
Front hoist Yes, in working condition.
Hitch coupler. Yes, has original coupler which is in working condition.
Roof and vents. Roof is in good shape with no apparent damage. Has all of the original vents and no caulking or tar has ever been put on the roof.
Exterior lights. Has newer teardrop style marker lights. Has the original Bargman Trail Light number six tail lights with steel bezels. Steel bezels are rusty and lenses are faded and has some stress cracks. New magnetic temporary tow lights have been added in the rear so that the trailer can be towed home safely.
Underbelly. Has the original aluminum underbelly which has a few torn and loose panels.
Windows, glass and seals. Has all of the original windows. All glass is good except for one window on the passenger side has a crack. Crack has been sealed to keep water out. Several window operators are stripped out or missing. All windows have original seals which should be replaced.
INTERIOR
The interior is very original and very intact. Believe it or not, it still has the original Zolatone paint on the walls which has never been painted over.
Cabinets and closet doors. Has all of the original cabinet and closet doors. Most are in good shape but there are a few where are the veneer is chipped or delaminating.
Catches. Yes original.
Countertops. Yes. Has original countertops which are showing some wear but are still in very usable condition.
Floor. Floor is good and solid in a majority of the trailer. However, there are some soft spots on the outer perimeter mainly in the living room area. See plywood patches.
Floor covering . Has newer 12 inch tiles which are in poor condition.
Table. No. But there is plenty of room for a built-in dinette or freestanding tables and chairs.
Unit sleeps. 4 with current set up but room for more.
Walls. Has the original aluminum exterior walls which still have the original Zolatone paint which is still in pretty decent condition.
RUNNING GEAR
Has tandem axles with the original running gear. I pulled one of the grease caps and there was adequate grease so I did not repack the wheel bearings. However, I tow the trailer over 200 miles and checked them every 50 miles or so and they never got warm.
Axles and springs. Has the original dropped axles with leaf springs. These have surface rust but all appear to be in good condition.
Dry weight. 3960#
Hitch ball height. Approximately 17 inches.
Safety chains. No.
Hitch weight. Approx. 300#
Hitch ball size. 2 inches.
Hubcaps. No.
Spare tire. No.
Tire condition. Has four newer 7:00-15 tires with 8 ply rating. The tread is like new but there was some weather checking on the side walls so I had new tubes put in all four of the tires just to be on the safe side.
FURNISHINGS
Has side gaucho which folds into 45 x 73” bed.
Rear bed is 32“ x 73“
Curtains. No.
ELECTRICAL
Has the original electrical system which has two automatic reset circuit breakers. All of the 110 V outlets are in working condition. Entire electrical system should be checked by a certified expert before use.
110 volt lights. Yes, has all but one of the original light fixtures and they all work except one which I think just needs a new switch.
12 volt lights. Yes. Has one original 12 V light which is untested.
Brakes. Yes. Untested.
Breakaway switch. No.
Converter. No.
Interior fans. Yes, has an interior fan at the front and rear vent which are both in working order and it also has an interior fan above the four burner range which is in working order.
Plug for exterior lights. Yes, has a four prong flat plug like most current boat trailer use.
Porch light. Yes. Untested.
RV battery. No.
LP SYSTEM
Most of the original LP system is missing but most of these items need to be replaced for safety reasons anyway. Entire LP system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.
Furnace. Yes. Has the original Panel Ray gas furnace. Untested.
Gas bottles. No.
Gas light. Yes. Has one gas light which is untested.
Gas regulator. There is a loose regulator in one of the closets.
Range and oven. Yes. Has the original Pre-way brand oven and a separate Preway brand four burner gas range. Both are untested.
Refrigerator. Yes. Has the original Frigidaire electric refrigerator. We did turn it on and it does cool.
Water heater. Yes. Has the original water heater still installed but there is a brand new, still in the box 10 gallon water heater in one of the closets.
PLUMBING
Trailer has the original copper fresh water lines with newer PVC drain lines. Water system has not been tested. Plumbing system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.
Air pump. No.
Freshwater tank. No. Trailer originally did have a water tank in the very front of the trailer but it has been removed.
Kitchen sink. Yes. Has the original two bowl kitchen sink which is in good condition.
Lavatory. Yes. Has the original lavatory which is in good condition but does have a small 3/16 inch round chip in porcelain by drain.
Sewer holding tank. No.
Shower. Yes. Has the original shower which is 27” x 32”. Nice big shower for a camper! It has a stainless steel pan and the original art deco style faucets and shower head.
Toilet. Yes. Has the original porcelain toilet. Untested.
Waste holding tank. No.
Water intake valve. Yes.
Water pump. No.
SPECIAL
If you have been looking for an original unmolested vintage Airstream that has plenty of room, this might be the trailer for you. It has tons of potential and would be a great candidate to restore back to its original show room condition.
