EXTERIOR
The exterior of this vintage Spartan is very original and very intact. The sides are pretty straight but there is a little damage in the front and some damage in the rear of the trailer. This trailer is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. The exterior skin is aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.
Frame. The frame has minor surface rust but appears to be good and solid in all areas. Dents scratches and damage. The worst damage is on the rear of this trailer where it looks like maybe someone backed into something. The lower trim on the front of the trailer also has some dents and dings. Both sides of the trailer are pretty straight with only very minor dents.
Dents & damage. The street side rear corner is pretty beat up. Other that that there are just minor dents, dings and flaws (see photos).
Entry door front. Has the original aluminum front door which is in pretty rough shape. It does have a vintage Bargman brand L 66 lock which is in working condition, but no keys. Door will need new seals.
Entry door rear. Has the original aluminum rear door which is in good shape. The exterior skin does have some very minor dings and flaws. It does have the vintage Bargman brand L 66 lock which is in working condition but we have no keys. The door still has the original interior vinyl cover which is in fair shape but would work great for a pattern. Door will need new seals.
Screen door front. Has the original aluminum screen door which is in fair shape.
Screen door rear. Has the original aluminum screen door which is in pretty good condition.
Steps. Has both the front and rear original slide out steps. Steps are in working condition but do have some very minor surface rust.
Front hoist. Has the original front hoist but is froze up from rust.
Hitch coupler. Has the original hitch coupler with 2 5/16 inch ball which is in working condition.
Roof and Vents. Has the original cambered roof with riveted construction. A cambered roof is lot better and stronger than a flat roof because it sheds water better and can hold up to heavier snow loads in northern climates. Living room roof vent has been covered and sealed shut.
Exterior lights. Has all four of the original style beehive type marker lights with steel bezels and glass lenses. The steel bezels are rusty and all of the glass lenses appear to be in good condition. Has the original tail lights which are in fair condition. Has the original license plate light and bracket which are in good condition but do you have some surface rust. All original lights are un-tested but temporary tow lights have been added in the rear so that the trailer can be towed home safely.
Underbelly. Has the original aluminum underbelly which has the typical oxidation. There are a few holes in the underbelly behind the axle and the very rear 2 foot section is missing the aluminum.
Windows. Has all of the original aluminum windows. One window is missing the operator and several windows are missing the knobs for the safety latch. All opening windows but one do have screens. All windows have old seals which should be replaced.
INTERIOR
The interior of this trailer is nice and roomy since it is a 10 foot wide trailer with 7' high ceilings. The interior is mostly original and very intact. It is a two bedroom model which is very popular. The rear bedroom is 86" x113" and the mid bedroom is 84" x 92". The living room is 113" x 139". I has a nice area for washer and dryer hook-up which is 27-3/4" wide x 84" high x 24" deep. The interior could stand a good cleaning.
Cabinet and closet doors. Yes. Has the original cabinets and closet doors which have a colonial style design. The cabinet doors and closet doors are in good shape but there are a few that do have some chipped veneer at the bottoms.
Catches. Original
Countertops. Kitchen and bathroom countertops have newer butcher block style countertops which are in decent condition. Countertop in middle bedroom is original and in decent condition.
Floor. Floor is solid in 95% of the trailer ,however the rear bedroom has some bad spots in the rear corners.
Floor covering. Has original tile in middle bedroom which is in fair condition but is missing several tiles in one corner. Other areas have carpet, linoleum or tile which is in fair condition.
Table. No, but there is plenty of room for a freestanding table.
Unit sleeps. There is only one couch that converts into a bed in the trailer now but there is room for up to six persons to sleep.
Walls. Has the original birch paneling which is in fair condition. This Birch paneling is still readily available so that repairs can be easily made by anyone with handyman skills.
RUNNING GEAR
Has the original running gear with the exception of new tires. We sprayed the wheel bearings with WD-40 and this trailer was towed over 500 miles with no issues. I would recommend having the bearing inspected and repacked before making any long trip. Our shop can do this work for an additional fee.
