EXTERIOR

The exterior of this vintage Spartan mobile home is very original, very intact and very straight. This trailer has lots of windows for a nice, bright interior. It is built like an airplane with riveted construction for long life and durability. It has aircraft grade aluminum that can be polished up to a mirror like shine.  This trailer has tons of room and tons of possibilities. It could be used as your primary home or a vacation home on a lake or river.  It would make an awesome air bnb or could be used for some other commercial application.

Frame and A-frame. Everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection. The front A-frame is all brand new and is bolted on so that it can be removed, once parked at its destination, if you so desire. 

Dents, scratches and damage. There is no major damage on the exterior of this trailer, only very minor dents, dings and scratches. It has a very original, very straight and very sweet exterior.

Entry doors. This Spartan has 2 brand new aluminum reproduction entry doors, which are built just like the originals, only better. See description here: https://www.vintagecampers.com/24x73-spartan-rh-aluminum-entry-door-w-rectangle-window-1955-1958/.   They have original Bargman brand L-66 locks which are in working condition.  No keys.

Screen doors. Front and rear doors have the original aluminum screen doors which are in good condition.

Entry steps. Both doors have original entry steps which are in good working order.

Front hoist. Has a brand new 5000 pound sidewind hoist.

Hitch coupler. Has brand new hitch coupler with 2-5/16 inch ball.

Roof and vents. Roof appears to be in good shape. The entire roof has been coated at one time with a Kool Seal type roof coating. The one crank up roof vent has been sealed shut. We cleaned up and re-sealed all seams and vents with Acryl-R sealer.

Exterior lights. Has all the original exterior lights. The Strat-o-Lite brand tail lights are in decent shape. It has the original license plate light and bracket which looks to be in decent shape but does have some surface rust. Has all four of the original marker lights with steel bezels and glass lenses. Steel bezels have some surface rust and all the glass lenses appear to be in good condition. Temporary tow lights have been added to the rear so that the trailer can be towed home safely.

Underbelly. Has the original aluminum underbelly. The majority of the underbelly is in decent shape, however, the aluminum panels directly behind the axles have been removed to access the plumbing.

Windows, glass and seals. Has all the original windows, all 45 of them. There are screens and storm windows for all of the windows, but 1 storm window has a cracked glass. Otherwise, there is no cracked, missing or damaged glass. 12 of the windows have bad operators and four of the windows are missing the safety latch knobs. All windows have old seals which should be replaced.

INTERIOR

The interior of this trailer is very original, very intact and very sweet for an un-restored trailer. It was parked under a shelter for many years which helped keep the interior woodwork so nice. It is a two bedroom model, which is very desirable. It has the original cabinets and most of the original light fixtures. The woodwork is in nice condition and the floor is good and solid throughout.

Cabinets and closet doors. Original and most in good shape. There are a few drawers where the veneer facing is chipped, or de-laminating. An additional upper and base cabinet have been added in the kitchen and additional upper cabinets have been added in the middle bedroom.

Hardware. Cabinet hinges and handles are original and a good shape.

Countertops. Kitchen has new Formica countertops with matching backsplash. Has the original pink Formica marbled countertop and backsplash in bathroom. Both countertop and backsplash are in pretty nice condition.

Floor. Floor is solid in all areas.

Floor covering. Has the original linoleum which is in fair to poor condition.

Table. No. But there is room for a freestanding table and chairs across from the kitchen.

Unit sleeps. Currently there are no beds in this trailer. However, there is room for up to six persons to sleep.

Walls. Has the original wood paneling on walls and ceiling which is in good condition.

RUNNING GEAR

Has the original Spartan running gear with the exception of six brand new tires. Wheel bearings have been inspected and repacked. The trailer was towed over 600 miles with no issues.

Axles and springs. Has the original Spartan straight axles with leaf springs suspension. Front axle has one non-original grease cap. Axles have surface rust, but everything appears to be good and solid.

Dry weight. 12,400#

Hitch ball height. Approximately 24 inches.

Safety chains. No.

Hitch weight. Approximately 1500#

Hitch ball size. 2-5/16 inch.

Hubcaps. No.

Spare tire. No.

Tire condition. Has six brand new 7 x 14.5 mobile home tires, which have a 12 ply rating. Tires are mounted on original non-split rims with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.

FURNISHINGS

There are no beds, couches or curtains in this trailer.

ELECTRICAL

Has the original electrical system with a Zinco brand electrical box with 10 automatic reset circuit breakers. All breakers, electrical circuits and outlets are in working order. Entire electrical system should be checked by a certified expert before use.

110 V lights. Yes. Most are original and all are in working condition.

12 lights. No.

Brakes. Yes. Brakes are working on all three axles.

Breakaway switch. Yes, has brand new breakaway switch and battery.

Converter. No.

Interior fans. Yes. Has an exhaust fan over the stove and one in the bathroom. Both are in working condition.

Plug for exterior lights. Yes. Has brand new seven way plug like most current RVs use.

Porch light. Yes. in working condition.

RV battery. No.

LP SYSTEM

Most of the original LP system is missing. Most of these items should be replaced for safety reasons anyway. Entire LP system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.

Furnace. Yes. Has what I believe is the original Coleman furnace, which had ducted heat and air. Furnace is untested.

Gas bottles. No.

Gas Light. No.

Gas regulator. No.

Range oven. No. But there is space for a 30” gas range.

Refrigerator. No.

Water heater. No. However, there is a designated closet for a pretty large gas water heater. 

PLUMBING

Has what appears to be the original plumbing system with copper and galvanized steel freshwater lines and steel pipe drains. I did a visual inspection and did not find any cracked fresh waterlines but we did not test the system with water. I did find where some of the drain lines apparently rusted and broke off at the fittings. I would probably plan on replacing all the original drain lines with new PVC.   Plumbing system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.

Freshwater tank. No.

Kitchen sink. Yes. Has a two bowl stainless steel kitchen sink with new Moen brand faucet.

Lavatory. Has the original pink lavatory, however, it does have a couple of large chips in the porcelain.

Sewer holding tank. No.

Shower. Yes. Has tub-shower combo.

Toilet. No

Tub. Has original pink bathtub. Porcelain is still in pretty nice condition and the pink Formica marble tub surround is in pretty nice condition as well. Still has the original tub faucet which has cool star shaped knobs. It still has the original aluminum folding-sliding tub surround door.

Waste holding tank. No.

Water intake valve. Yes.

Water pump. No.

SPECIAL

This vintage Spartan mobile home has tons of room and tons of potential. It would make a great primary home or an awesome vacation home, parked on a lake or river. It will need some minor updating but overall it has very solid bones and is in very nice condition for an un-restored trailer.

Air-conditioning. No , But it does still have the A-coil in the bottom of the furnace I believe.

Awning. No.

Microwave. No.

Stabilizer jacks. No.

TV antenna. No.
