EXTERIOR
AVION was Airstream’s biggest competitor back in the day. They are a very high-quality trailer built with riveted construction for long life and durability. The exterior of this vintage Avion is mostly original and in nice shape. It has the 13 panel and caps on the front and rear which are in very nice condition. This has the anodized aluminum exterior skin, which is much more maintenance free than a polish trailer.
Bumper, Frame and A-frame. Has surface rust but everything appears to be good and solid in all areas accessible for inspection.
Compartment Doors. Has one compartment door for access to inside storage. Corner of door has some corrosion with a hole and door drags a little.
Dents, Scratches and Damage. There are a few very minor dents, dings and scuffs but overall the exterior skin is in very nice condition.
Entry Door. Has the original aluminum entry door which is in good shape. Has the original Bargman brand L-66 lock which is in working condition but we have no key. Screen Door. Has the original aluminum screen door which is in good shape. Also has a nice screen door guard at the bottom to protect the screen.
Step. Has the original fold out step which is in good condition.
Front Hoist. Has a power jack which is in working condition.
Hitch Coupler. Has the original hitch coupler with 2 5/16” ball. Coupler is in working condition.
Roof and Vents. Roof has no apparent damage and has both original roof vents which do operate correctly.
Exterior Lights. Has the original exterior lights, but it looks like maybe some of the marker lights have been replaced with newer ones. Original lights are un-tested. Underbelly. Has the original aluminum underbelly, which is in good shape.
Windows. Has the original windows which are tinted plexiglass. All windows are original and in working condition but there are a few of the crank handles that are cracked.
INTERIOR
The interior of this trailer is very original and in very nice un-restored condition.
Cabinet and Closet Doors. Original and in nice shape.
Catches. Original and in working condition.
Countertops. Has original countertops, which are a woodgrain pattern laminate in the kitchen and a solid light yellow color in the bathroom. All countertops are in good condition.
Floor. Floor is solid in all areas. Floor has tile in the bathroom, carpet between the two twin beds and linoleum in the rest of the trailer. The linoleum does have some stains. Table. Has the original drop leaf table which is in good condition.
Unit sleeps four.
Walls. Has the original walls and ceiling, which is a vinyl material that has been factory laminated to the interior aluminum. All the walls and ceiling are in good shape.
RUNNING GEAR
Has the original running gear with the exception of newer tires. Has the Mor-Ryde independent suspension system which is highly desirable.
Dry weight. 6370#
Hitch Ball Height. Approximately 18 inches.
Safety chains. Yes.
Hitch weight. Approximately 800#
Hitch ball size. 2-5/16”.
Hubcaps. Yes. Has the original hubcaps which are inside the trailer loose.
Spare Tire. No.
Tire condition. Has four newer ST225-75R 15 load range E trailer radials mounted on original non-split rims with six lugs on 5 1/2 inch bolt circle.
Beds & Mattresses. Has twin beds, which are 32“ x 75“. Mattresses are still in decent shape.
Couch. Has the original gaucho in the front which folds out into a 53” X 75” bed.
Curtains. Yes.
ELECTRICAL
Has the original electrical system with a converter that converts 110 volts to 12 volts for all the interior lights and fans. Converter works most of the time, but it does have an intermittent problem where sometimes the lights blink or go out. Has a 30 amp power cord with approximately 20 foot of cord. Entire electrical system should be checked by a certified expert before use.
110 V Lights. No
12 V lights. Yes. Most are in working condition. Some may need new bulbs.
Brakes. Yes, has electric brakes on both axles, which are in working condition.
Interior Fans. Yes, has interior fans at both roof vents, the bathroom and in the range hood above the stove. All fans are in working condition.
Plug for Exterior Lights. Yes. Has a Bargman style seven way connector like most current RVs use.
RV battery. Yes.
LP SYSTEM
Has what appears to be the original LP system complete with all hoses tanks and regulator. Entire LP system and appliances should be checked by a certified expert before use.
Automatic Changeover Regulator. Yes.
Furnace. Yes. Has the original Suburban brand furnace. We could not get the furnace to light but the burners probably just need to be cleaned.
Gas Bottles. Yes. Has two 30 pound aluminum tanks, which are in good condition but will probably need to have the new OPD valves installed.
Gas light. Yes. Has the original Humphrey brand gas light, which is untested but normally work fine.
Regulator. Yes.
Range/Oven. Yes. Has the original Magic Chef stove with four burners on top and oven on the bottom. All burners did light fine.
Refrigerator. Yes. Has the original Dometic brand gas-electric refrigerator which is working on both gas and electric.
Water Heater. Yes. Has the original Atwood brand gas water heater which is in working condition but burners could stand to be cleaned. 6 gallon.
PLUMBING
Has the original plumbing system with copper freshwater lines and ABS drain lines. We did a visual inspection did not find any cracked waterlines so we air tested the lines which checked fine. We did not test the water system with water. Plumbing system and all appliances should be checked by certified expert before use.
Freshwater Tank. Yes.
Kitchen Sink. Yes. Has the original two bowl stainless steel sink which is in good condition.
Lavatory. Yes. Has the original oval lavatory which is in good condition.
Sewer holding tank. Yes.
Shower. Yes.
Toilet. Yes. Has the original Thetford brand toilet. Untested.
Tub. No.
Waste holding tank. Yes. This is the first year that Avions had both black and gray water holding tanks.
Water intake valve. Yes.
Water Pump. Yes. Pump does run, but since we did not put water in, I can’t say for sure it works.
SPECIAL
This is a very nice original camper, which won’t need much work to be able to start camping in. It was very well-maintained and will make someone a very nice high quality camper.
Air Conditioner. Yes. Has a Coleman brand rooftop air conditioner. Air conditioner does run, but it does not cool so probably needs to be recharged.
Awning. Has a Zipdee awning which is in good shape and in working condition. Also has a Zipdee window awning on the driver side of the trailer.
Stabilizer Jacks. Yes.
TV Antenna. Yes. Has a Ranger brand antenna which cranks up and rotates from inside the trailer.
Dolly wheel. Yes, has the original steel dolly wheel.
Equalizer Bars. Yes
Hitch Head. Yes, however it is a welded hitch head so it may or may not work for your application.
Owners Manual. Yes
Owners Paperwork. Yes, it looks like he saved all the paperwork that ever came with the trailer, including some newer Avion literature.
Sway control. Yes, has a friction type sway control in trailer loose.
This trailer also comes with a lot of other extras. It has some Avion club flags and Avion beanie hat, a Coleman gas stove and other cool stuff.
