Product Description
In the 1940’s and 1950’s there were 4 wheel bearings that were used on 90% of the trailers made. If you have a 6 lug hub which has a 5-1/2” (measured straight across) bolt circle, chances are this is the outer bearing you need. The Timken part# for this bearing is 1779. If your bolt circle is not 5-1/2” your hub probably uses a different bearing.
When it comes to wheel bearings, you get what you pay for. If you buy cheap (import) bearings, you can expect to have more problems down the road. The only bearings we sell are top quality Timken brand bearings. Are they expensive? Yes, but not nearly as expensive as a towing bill or replacing the entire axle due to spindle damage.
When you replace a bearing, you should always replace the race also. The race for this bearing is our part# CCH031. If you do not replace the race when you replace the bearing, the bearing is likely to fail much sooner.
