Product Description
In the 1940’s and 1950’s there were 4 wheel bearings that were used on 90% of the trailers made. If you have a 6 lug hub which has a 5-1/2” (measured straight across) bolt circle, chances are this is the outer race you need. The Timken part# for this race is 1729. If your bolt circle is not 5-1/2” your hub probably uses a different race. The bearing for this race is our part#CCH030.
When it comes to wheel bearings races, you get what you pay for. If you buy cheap (import) bearing races , you can expect to have more problems down the road. The only bearing races we sell are top quality Timken brand. Are they expensive? Yes, but not nearly as expensive as a towing bill or replacing the entire axle due to spindle damage.
When you replace a bearing, you should always replace the race also. The race is the part that is pressed into the hub which the bearing rides on. If you do not replace the race when you replace the bearing, the bearing is likely to fail much sooner.
